The establishment of Amrit Vela Radio in January 1997 nearly 10 years ago relaying a live religious Gurbani programme from Harimander Sahib Golden Temple Amritsar was a fulfillment of a long cherished dream of not only of the Sikh Community in UK and Europe by also of different faiths who had visited the temple at any given time in their lives and found themselves spiritually uplifted. This programme conveys a universal message of love, peace and tranquility for the entire humanity.

On Luckys inspiration, persuasion and moral support, the Sikh women working in different fields in Britain set up Sikh Women Organisation UK. They held their first successful one day conference at East London University, Docklands on 7 April 2002, in which women from different parts of the country participated. At last year's conference Lucky was honoured by this group of her achievements as a successful media personality.

Keertan Darbar ( Recital of religious hymns) and competitions on religious issues and topics were held in various Sikh institutions such as Barking, East London, Hounslow, Kent, Slough, Southall, Southgate, Central Gurdwara Shepherds bush and some other institutions from 1998 onwards during which meritorious and excelling participants were honored.

It celebrated and covered 300th anniversary of Creation of Khalsa in London and also 400th Anniversary of Parkash Ustasav (Installation) of Guru Granth Sahib directly from Golden temple Amritsar.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Amrit Vela Radio donated sound systems and other items of necessity to Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and other holy places in Pakistan also to some Gurdwaras in London including Central Gurdwara West Ealing Branch. Cordless Mike and system was recently provided to Golden Temple Amritsar. From time to time funds have been raised by Amrit Vela Radio to provide for the education of poor children, for medical treatment and other needs of the poor and the needy.

The very inspiring and knowledgeable discussions and debates on the radio has encouraged not only the children but even uneducated ladies from the villages to participate in this programme actively thereby acquiring so much of knowledge about their religious and cultural heritage. Mothers and grand mothers in turn pass on that knowledge to their children and grand children whom not only make their spiritual foundations strong but also make them good human beings and better citizens. Amrit Vela Radio has become an educational institution for children. The Children are encouraged to come on the radio to translate Gurbani not only in English but also in simple Punjabi so that a person of very ordinary intellect can understand. Programmes conducted by Amrit Vela Radio have created a better understanding amongst various faiths and benefited the humanity at large.
